The Faculty of Petroleum and Gas in Gachsaran, as a part of Yasouj University, officially began its activities in 2012. Currently, it offers three programs: Polymer Engineering, Applied Chemistry, and Technical Mechanics Welding. The faculty building, with an area of 5,000 square meters, includes administrative and educational sections, with about a 2-hectare campus including pathways, parking, and rest areas. Approximately 1 hectare of green space surrounds the faculty, aiming to enhance environmental quality as well as to fulfill ecological concerns; a plan intended to be expanded. Additionally, 75 hectares of land have been allocated for the expansion of the faculty in future. Gachsaran County, with a population of about 150,000, is situated in the southwestern part of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province. The Gachsaran Oil and Gas Production Company is a significant subsidiary of the National Iranian South Oil Company, contributing substantially to the country's economic revenue by producing 740,000 barrels of oil per day. The company's central office is geographically located in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, while its facilities span across four provinces: Khuzestan, Bushehr, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, and Fars, highlighting its strategic importance.
